Strengthening the Family Planning Program (SFPP): A Community of Practice for NYS Program Directors and Managers
In response to your requests for networking, peer learning and mentorship opportunities, the NYSFPTC is piloting a new community of practice for FP program directors and managers! This program is tailored for FPP-funded agency staff that provide administrative oversight and thought leadership on the implementation and management of the Title X program, either for their entire agency or at specific agency sites, and are newer to their role of FPP management (up to 7 years’ experience).
SFPP goals:
- Increasing newer FP program directors’ confidence in their ability to manage and implement FPPs
- Increasing participants’ knowledge of core FPP expectations and best practices for meeting those expectations
- Creating greater opportunities for relationship building among program directors across levels of experience
- Facilitating sharing and dissemination of promising practices for implementation and management of FP programs
- Creating opportunities for participants to collectively strategize to resolve challenges faced as newer FP program directors
- Increasing familiarity among FP program directors of resources available to support program implementation and improvement through the NYS FP Training Center and RHNTC
Benefits of the program:
- 5 virtual (Zoom-based) group sessions of 60-90 minutes, with schedule based on participants’ preference/availability
- Fully funded 1.5 day in-person convening (travel expenses reimbursed) in February 2025
- Co-designed educational content with topics informed by participant needs, with a focus on core FPP knowledge such as program requirements, staff training, site visit preparation, data reporting, financial management, and other issues that keep program directors up at night
- Opportunity for 1:1 coaching sessions with NYSFPTC team
- Peer consultation to problem solve a particular challenge at your agency
- Facilitation and support from a range of subject matter experts with knowledge of and experience with the FPP
